What is the Pilates Magic Circle?
The Pilates Magic Circle is a popular piece of equipment used in Pilates workouts. It's a small, flexible ring made of rubber or metal with padded handles on opposite sides. The circle is typically about 12 to 14 inches in diameter.
The Magic Circle is used to add resistance to Pilates exercises, helping to target and engage specific muscle groups. It is versatile and can be used for both upper and lower body exercises. The resistance provided by the circle challenges muscles, enhances strength, and helps improve overall body awareness and control.
In a Pilates session, the Magic Circle can be incorporated into various exercises to add intensity, create resistance, and assist in targeting specific muscle groups such as the inner and outer thighs, arms, and core.
It's often used to add challenge to exercises involving hugging or pressing the ring between the hands or legs. An example of this would be holding the circle between just above the ankles while pumping the arms and lifting the head when doing the Hundred.
